Visualizing Resumes

A good friend of mine recently asked me to design her CV/resume. Sharmistha is a copywriter/blogger and wanted a non-traditional look for her resume. While giving me a list of elements to be in the design, she kept the rest open to interpretation.  I did not anticipate that this work would make my brain work so much…here are a few thoughts I summarized towards its completion.

1. Can layouts like these add a more personal touch to resumes elevating them from piece of paper to a reflection of yourself?

2. What level of detail is good and when does it become a distraction?

3. Can and should non-designers be encouraged to infuse  design in professional documents like cover letters, resumes and CV’s.
